Dr. Minagawa attended Pacific Union College in Napa Valley, California and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.
He later earned an Associate in Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Loma Linda University School of Allied Health. He worked as a Registered Respiratory therapist (RRT) and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) at Loma Linda University Medical Center in the Pulmonary Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit, LLUMC Transport Team and primarily in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
One month prior to starting dental school, he was invited to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with the Loma Linda University Overseas Heart Surgery Team, where he provided life-support for neonatal and pediatric post heart surgery patients. In 1985, during his dental training, Dr. Minagawa participated in a volunteer humanitarian trip to Chiapas, Mexico to care for Indians in the Yucatan Peninsula jungles performing oral surgery and restorative dentistry.
He graduated from Loma Linda School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1987. He was awarded the 1987 Senior Dental Student Achievement Award from the Southern California Japanese-American Dental Society. He worked in a group practice in Southern California for the next five years.
Dr. Minagawa moved to Washington State with his family in 1992. He served as a Dental Director for a state facility for developmentally disabled patients. While working for the state, he received an affiliate faculty appointment at the University of Washington, School of Dentistry.
In 1994, Seattle Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Minagawa began a private practice in the South Center area. He practices general dentistry with an emphasis on aesthetic and restorative dentistry and devotes considerable time to continuing his education. Recently, Dr. Minagawa completed advanced dental training at LVI (Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies), the world's premier post-graduate teaching center. He has also completed courses in advanced cosmetic techniques at The Art and Science of Aesthetics in Seattle.
Dr. Minagawa resides in Auburn with his wife Joy and their two children Jayson and Elly. He enjoys classic music, outdoor sports, and spending time with family.
